Niagara Hospice to offer free community presentation for National Healthcare Decisions Day

Wed, Apr 1st 2026 07:55 pm

Press release

April 16 is National Healthcare Decisions Day, which is a day set aside to educate and empower individuals to discuss and document their end-of-life health care wishes. Niagara Hospice invites the community to attend the free presentation, “Advance Care Planning: Advance Directives for Health Care,” from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Niagara Hospice Administration Building, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport.

Advance care planning includes advance directives like health care proxies, do not resuscitate (DNR) orders and living wills. Advance directives help to ensure end-of-life care wishes are followed if one is unable to make necessary decisions for themselves.

Niagara Hospice’s Cheryl A. Ferguson, B.S.W., M.S.W. will present on how to have those discussions with loved ones and how to make health care wishes a priority.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP by April 13 to information@NiagaraHospice.org, or by calling 716-280-0740. Light refreshments will be served.
