Obituary: Eric Paul Freischlag

Eric Paul Freischlag, of Wilson, passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2026, under the care of Hospice and his grandson, Alan.

Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, he was the son of Elmer Paul and Gladys (Weeks) Freischlag, and the grandson of the Rev. David and Ethel (Thompkins) Weeks, and Elmer and Delphine (Pelletier) Freischlag.

Eric grew up in Youngstown, attending the Red Brick School House and Lewiston-Porter High School. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1964. He went on to earn an engineering degree from Niagara University and attended Ithaca College and Cornell University.

Over the course of his career, Eric worked for Bell Aerospace, Motorola, SigmaMotor, Monroe Electronics, and Trek before retiring. He also dedicated many years to coaching youth football for the New-Wil-Ran football association.

Eric is predeceased by his wife, Gail; by his son, John Michael, and brothers Roger and Jerry. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Chas) Shaffer of Ransomville; by his sons, Eric (Helen) Freischlag and Gary Freischlag of Wilson; by his daughter, Kimberly (Glenn) Davis-Stacharczyk of Williamsville; by his sons, Michael Davis of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jeff (Dorothy) Davis of Lugoff, South Carolina; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Christ Episcopal Church, 7145 Fieldcrest Drive, Lockport.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eric's memory can be made to Niagara Hospice.
