Hochul celebrates Moog's 75th anniversary & $150 million investment in new advanced integrated manufacturing facility

Gov. Kathy Hochul marked the 75th anniversary of Moog Inc., showcasing decades of cutting-edge innovation in the fields of aerospace, defense, industrial automation, and medical technology. From supplying vital flight control and critical motion control systems on virtually every commercial aircraft platform, to steering historic and future space exploration missions like NASA’s Artemis campaign, Moog enters its next era with more than 14,000 global employees dedicated to sustainable innovation and advanced engineering excellence.

As a global designer, manufacturer, and integrator of high-performance motion control systems and components, Moog’s 75th anniversary is not just a celebration of a historic past, but a testament to a future built on New York innovation. Moog remains a driving force in building a stronger, more resilient, and highly advanced New York economy for generations to come.

“For 75 years, Moog has stood as a crown jewel of New York manufacturing, transforming Western New York into a global hub for aerospace and technological innovation,” Hochul said. “From its humble beginnings in an East Aurora hangar to its modern role shaping precision motion-control systems, Moog’s legacy is proof that, when we invest in New York ingenuity and high-tech manufacturing, it results in good-paying jobs for our communities.”

As Moog Inc. celebrates its 75th anniversary, the company reflects on a legacy of precision engineering and innovation that began in East Aurora in 1951. Founded by Bill Moog, Art Moog and Lou Geyer following the invention of the revolutionary electrohydraulic servo valve, Moog has grown from a small startup into a multibillion-dollar global enterprise.

Friday’s celebration included a ribbon cutting for Moog’s new AIM building, a standalone, 150,000-square-foot facility built on the company’s East Aurora campus to significantly revolutionize Moog’s military aircraft precision machining operation, which delivers high-precision, tight-tolerance parts for its mission-critical flight control actuation systems. The facility consolidates machining cells to increase product throughput and meet growing demand.

From steering historic moon missions to pioneering the friction-free physics of the electrohydraulic servo valve, Moog Inc. has spent 75 years driving advanced precision motion control – all fueled by a unique, trust-based workplace culture that empowers its employees to collaborate and innovate.

To fuel its advanced manufacturing presence in Western New York, Moog has regularly partnered with state and local economic development agencies to secure performance-based incentives. Through Empire State Development, the state has awarded Moog tax breaks tied to aggressive job creation targets, including a $16.4 million package from the Excelsior Jobs Program in 2023 to support a $42 million expansion and the addition of more than 500 high-tech engineering, machining and aerospace production jobs.

The New York Power Authority previously awarded Moog 8,000 kilowatts of low-cost power through its ReCharge NY and Western New York Hydropower programs. The Erie County Industrial Development Agency also approved nearly $3 million in tax breaks, a package including $2 million in sales tax abatements alongside roughly $901,000 in property tax reductions. These state-backed incentives ensure that Moog’s specialized military production remains firmly anchored in Western New York as the company prepares for future expansion phases.
