On Jan. 29, at approximately 5 p.m., the Niagara Falls Police Department received a 911 call from a residence on 77th Street stating that someone was shot. While NFPD dispatch was receiving more information, it was learned the victim was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers did respond to both the emergency room as well as the originating address.
During the investigation, it was determined that the juvenile suspect had shot another member of the household. The victim was transferred to Erie County Medical Center for further treatment of her non-life-threatening injury. The suspect was taken into custody at the time of the incident and charged with assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a firearm. He is currently being held in accordance with the Office of Children and Family Services.
