Today, four-times-Grammy-nominated band Goo Goo Dolls and two-times-Grammy-nominated electronic music powerhouse Steve Aoki unveil a reimagined version of the Diamond-certified hit “Iris.” The reworked version transforms the beloved anthem into a festival-ready experience, pairing the song’s raw intensity with Aoki’s signature high-energy production. With this collaboration, Goo Goo Dolls and Aoki bridge genres, reaffirming the timelessness of “Iris” while introducing the song to dance floors and audiences worldwide.

The collaboration was born out of a surprise onstage appearance at Stagecoach in 2025, when Aoki invited Goo Goo Dolls’ frontman John Rzeznik to perform a live rendition of the song, which can be seen here. Inspired by the overwhelming response, Aoki brought the track into the studio, crafting a modern interpretation that expands the song’s reach while remaining true to its original spirit.

On the heels of going viral on TikTok, “Iris” has garnered over 5.5 billion streams to date worldwide, amassing over 1 billion streams in 2025 alone. Originally released in 1998, the four-times-Grammy-nominated track continues to reach new audiences around the world and has been covered by the likes of Taylor Swift, Machine Gun Kelly, Phoebe Bridgers, Maggie Rogers and sombr, yet again proving the timelessness and staying power of Goo Goo Dolls’ illustrious catalog. In addition, "Iris" recently climbed to new peaks on Spotify's U.S. Daily Top Songs Chart and Global Daily Chart, marking yet another milestone for the iconic track nearly 30 years after release.

Of the collaboration, Rzeznik recalled, “Joining Steve onstage during his Stagecoach set was an unforgettable moment. The energy from the crowd was remarkable, and the mixture of our two genres was amazing to witness live. We’re thrilled to release this new version of ‘Iris’ with Steve and share that magic moment with our fans around the world.”

Aoki said, “Performing ‘Iris’ live with Goo Goo Dolls at Stagecoach was one of those rare, unforgettable moments. You could feel the connection everyone had to the song, but also this incredible rush as we brought it into a completely different environment. That feeling stayed with me, and I knew we had to take it into the studio and build a version designed for festival stages, while preserving the heart of the original.”

Goo Goo Dolls are also set to release “Live From NPR’s Tiny Desk” on limited-edition orchid vinyl on March 27 via Warner Records. The intimate, four-song recording features performances of “Iris,” three-times-Platinum track “Slide,“ “Feel The Silence” and “Not Goodbye (Close My Eyes),” which appears on the 2025 “Summer Anthem” EP.

Formed by Rzeznik and Robby Takac in Buffalo in 1986, Goo Goo Dolls have quietly broken records, contributed a string of staples to the American songbook, connected to millions of fans and indelibly impacted popular music for three-plus decades. Beyond selling 15 million records worldwide, the group has garnered four Grammy nominations and nearly a dozen Platinum and Gold singles, combined and seized a page in the history books by achieving 15 no. 1 and Top 10 hits. As a result, they hold the all-time radio record for “Most Top 10 Singles.”

Counting nearly 3 billion music streams to his name, Aoki is a true visionary. Billboard described the Grammy-nominated music producer, artist, fashion designer, entrepreneur, futurist, and Dim Mak Records founder as “one of the most in-demand entertainers in the world.” A Guinness World Record holder for the “Most Traveled Musician in a Single Calendar Year,” Aoki has performed at nearly every top festival around the world, including Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, Lollapalooza, Fuji Rock Festival, Tomorrowland, and Electric Daisy Carnival. Aoki also graced recent covers of Entrepreneur Magazine, Success Magazine, Electronic Musician, and Adweek as their “Visionary of the Year.”

As a globally successful cross-genre solo artist, Aoki has collaborated with an impressive list of varied artists, including BTS, Maluma, Snoop Dogg, Linkin Park, blink-182, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Uzi Vert, 2 Chainz and Daddy Yankee, on top of having released three Platinum singles, six Gold singles, and over 10 Top 10 radio records.

Aoki approaches each new endeavor with the same sense of dedication he’s put into his past achievements, including the Grammy-nominated Netflix documentary “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” (2016) and his memoir “BLUE: The Color of Noise” (2019). In 2012, he also founded THE AOKI Foundation to support organizations in brain science and its research. His influential record label, Dim Mak, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, is known for being a launching pad for the careers of prominent acts Bloc Party, The Chainsmokers, Bloody Beetroots, The Kills, Zedd and Diplo.
