PHOTOS: Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino announces multimillion-dollar hotel room renovation

$47 million hotel room renovation project will see 594 guest rooms completely renovated; work expected to be complete by December 2027

Officials from Seneca Resorts & Casinos announced Monday that a $47 million hotel room renovation project at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino will begin in October. A total of 594 rooms and suites across 22 floors, encompassing a total of 394,000 square feet in Western New York’s largest hotel, will be completely renovated and upgraded. Crews will complete work in three-floor phases, with total completion expected in December 2027.

Also set to be upgraded in the first full, formal room renovation in 20 years are hotel corridors and elevators.

Seneca Gaming Corp. Vice President of Design and Construction Joseph Fanara led members of the media on a tour of prototype rooms, providing a sneak peek at the room renovations.

Nephew explained, “We took one example of each one of our main types of rooms (center suite, corner suite, regular room), and we did a mock room of each one of those. We were committed to really trying to get everything right when we did it.”

Fanara said, “There’s two different styles of rooms that were created – one playing with the earth tones, taking influences from Niagara Gorge and the earth around the Niagara River; the other one … is taking more influence off the river – more blue tones and river tones.”

Nephew said, “We paid a lot of attention to honoring the environment, as well as our culture, as we’ve gone through it.

Fanara noted room enhancements will include finishes, fixtures, carpet, tiles, wall coverings, bathrooms, shower fixtures, vanities and artwork.

Renovation work will be conducted three floors at a time, with dedicated elevators and coordination with housekeeping, so as to allow the remaining floors and rooms to remain available for guests.

A popular destination for guests from across the U.S., Canada and around the world, Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino served more than 181,000 occupied rooms in 2025 and approximately 141,000 rooms so far in 2026. The updated hotel rooms will be exquisitely appointed, creating beautiful spaces where guests can relax from a day of excitement, recharge for a high-energy experience, and fully envelop themselves in a cascade of comfort and the wonder of an escape from the ordinary.

Nephew said the upgrade is not motivated by competition from other casino resorts. Rather, “It was driven more by us wanting to remain at that lead of always being, I feel, the premier product for all of Western New York.”

Nephew said it was time to renovate “to provide that level of excellence to our guests.”

The hotel renovation project at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino is the latest in an emerging wave of projects by Seneca Resorts & Casinos. Earlier this year, the company unveiled a $2.7 million renovation of the Seneca Café restaurant at Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino. A $5.8 million renovation of that resort’s popular Thunder Mountain Buffet is currently underway, with completion scheduled for November. The company is currently working on plans for a series of significant projects at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino and Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino over the next few years.
