Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center welcomes Gem Gibbons as new chief nursing officer

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center announces the appointment of Gem Gibbons, RN, BSN, CFRN, as its new chief nursing officer (CNO), effective Jan. 6, 2025. Gibbons brings over two decades of experience in clinical leadership and emergency response management to the NFMMC team.

As NFMMC’s new CNO, Gibbons will oversee all nursing units and designated clinical areas, prioritizing patient safety, evidence-based practice, and continuous quality improvement. Her hands-on experience in emergency care, paired with her certifications in advanced life support and trauma care, position her as a strong advocate for NFMMC’s mission to deliver high-quality, compassionate health care services.

Gibbons previously served as director of critical care services at Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport, Missouri, where she managed operations for high-acuity care units, focusing on enhancing patient flow, satisfaction scores, and quality outcomes. In addition, Gibbons has held critical leadership roles, including as a nurse liaison for Keystone Healthcare Management and director of advanced clinicals at HCA, overseeing initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and compliance in clinical settings.

Gibbons earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Rochester and an associate's degree in medical laboratory technology from Alfred State College. She also holds multiple advanced certifications, including certified flight registered nurse and instructor qualifications in basic, advanced and pediatric life support. Known for her dedication to clinical excellence and staff development, Gibbons is highly regarded for her collaborative leadership style and her ability to drive strategic health care initiatives.
