Niagara County Department of Public Works Commissioner Garret Meal announced the Wilson Burt Road bridge over 18 Mile Creek in the Town of Newfane will be closed to all motorists beginning Monday, Feb. 24. The bridge will reopen on approximately Aug. 1.
The bridge closure is between Lockport-Olcott and West Creek roads. Meal said this is necessary for extensive bridge rehabilitation work.
Electronic message boards are already in place warning motorists of the pending closure.
“Niagara County DPW has done extensive bridge and culvert work in recent years to keep our infrastructure safe for the travelling public,” Meal said. “We recognize the inconvenience to motorists and appreciate the public’s patience as we complete these projects.”
