Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center announced David Okolica, M.D., FACS, FASMBS, will join the hospital’s surgical team and will begin seeing patients on May 1.
Okolica brings extensive expertise in robotic, laparoscopic and general surgery to NFMMC, with specialized experience in bariatric procedures. He previously served as an attending surgeon at Wellspan Surgical Specialists in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and at Sentara-RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he performed over 225 robotic procedures, including sleeve gastrectomy, gallbladder and appendix removals, and hernia repairs.
His professional background includes serving as medical director for bariatric surgery at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, and holding attending surgeon roles at Trinity Health Corporation hospitals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Auburn Community Hospital in New York, and Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Board-certified in general surgery and fellowship-trained in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, Okolica earned his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his surgical residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn. He further enhanced his surgical skills through fellowships at Hershey Medical Center and Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania.
Okolica is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS). He holds medical licenses in multiple states, including New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia.
