“You Are My King (Amazing Love),” originally written almost 30 years ago by Billy James Foote, became a timeless song in churches around the world. Centered on the powerful lyric – “Amazing love, how can it be, that You, my King, would die for me?” – the song captures the heart of the Gospel and Easter.

“Worship music is unlike any other – it’s not just recorded and released, it’s carried,” Tomlin said. “From worship leader to worship leader, church to church, playlist to playlist, and generation to generation. These songs are bigger than any one artist – they belong to all of us. ‘You Are My King (Amazing Love)’ was deeply impactful for me early in my career, and it’s an honor to shine a new spotlight on it through the Easter ‘Spotify Singles’ release. My hope is that this powerful song moves people today the way it moved me all those years ago.”

The annual Good Friday Nashville event began in 2017 and has continued each year, including virtually through a worldwide stream during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

Good Friday Nashville is the largest ticketed Christian concert ever at Bridgestone Arena. The event continues its reign as the longest-running annual charity-related concert at Bridgestone Arena, as each year proceeds have gone back to the community. The event continues to benefit the foster care and adoption crisis through For Others, a nonprofit organization created by Tomlin and his wife, Lauren. For Others is a collective of donors, nonprofits, businesses and government agencies holistically addressing the crisis plaguing this nation’s most vulnerable through local and nationwide initiatives.

Good Friday Nashville is promoted and produced by Awakening Events, and is presented by K-LOVE, Air1 and WAY-FM.

Last week, prior to Good Friday Nashville, Tomlin released “The First Hymn,” a song he co-wrote with friend Ben Fielding using the lyric and musical notations from the oldest surviving Christian hymn ever found. The two award-winning songwriters turned the 1,800-year-old song into a piece of modern worship music that is now being given back to the world almost two millennia later. “The First Hymn Documentary” was released April 14 and is available for streaming on wonder.watch. “The First Hymn” song – both studio and live versions – are available now across all digital platforms here, along with a lyric video and live video available here. Watch the trailer for “The First Hymn Documentary” here.

“The First Hymn” follows on the heels of Tomlin’s involvement in “The Last Supper” movie, where he not only executive-produced, but also recorded, mixed, mastered and released (all in seven weeks) his song “No Greater Love,” as the end credits song. This achievement was preceded by Tomlin’s involvement in Amazon Prime Video’s series, “House of David” with his song, “After Your Heart’” included in the soundtrack.
