Niagara County DA announces vehicular manslaughter sentencing

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Ninaatikwe A. Hamby, age 20, previously of Sanborn, was sentenced to 364 days in Niagara County Jail by County Court Judge John Ottaviano. Hamby previously plead guilty to the crime of vehicular manslaughter in the second degree and admitted to driving her vehicle at 100 miles per hour while under the influence of cannabis on Feb. 25, 2024. As a result, Hamby crashed the vehicle she was driving at the intersection of Walmore and Upper Mountain roads in Sanborn, killing one passenger and seriously injuring another.

The case was investigated by the Lewiston Police Department and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, and was prosecuted by Vehicular Crimes Bureau Chief Christine Savoia.
