Johnnyswim performs Saturday at Artpark

Fri, Jul 18th 2025 02:50 pm

Johnnyswim, an American folk, soul, blues and pop music duo consisting of singer-songwriters Amanda Sudano and Abner Ramirez, will perform Saturday at Artpark in Lewiston, providing support for Grace Potter. The concert begins at 7 p.m. For tickets, visit www.artpark.net.

Johnnyswim formed in 2005 in Nashville. The duo has released multiple studio albums and EPs, and their song “Home” is the theme song to the popular “Fixer Upper” television show.

Johnnyswim released their new album, “When The War Is Over,” on Feb. 7. Listen here. The album is the fifth full-length for the husband-and-wife duo of Sudano and Ramirez. It features Grammy Award-nominated Houston rapper Tobe Nwigwe on standout track "Dopamine," which they performed together on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Feb. 10. Watch here. The new album was inspired by their personal journey through an intense season of change, exploring themes of physical and mental health, self-realization, and healing.

Amanda is the daughter of Donna Summer and renowned songwriter Bruce Sudano (Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton). Abner’s family came to the U.S. from Cuba. He talks about his family's refugee flight in an interview here, which goes into depth about his grandfather's murder, and his family finally getting out via the Mariel Boatlift in 1980.

Additionally, “CBS Mornings” went to L.A. to do a feature on the couple and their career. Watch here. The duo has had several TV shows about their lives, including on Max, with “The Johnnyswim Show” and “Home on the Road with Johnnyswim.” They had a cooking show, “In the Kitchen with Abner + Amanda,” and Amanda continued with cooking on their YouTube via “Say Grace: The Test Kitchen.” Plus they do a “Songs With Strangers” podcast – which brings us back to “CBS Mornings,” as they did a number with Vlad, who interviewed them.

With its rich storytelling and personal themes, “When The War Is Over” showcases Johnnyswim’s gift for crafting music that feels both intimate and universal. Fans will have the chance to experience this connection firsthand at Lewiston on Saturday.

Headliner Grace Potter has forged a formidable career that’s included sharing the stage with the likes of Robert Plant, Allman Brothers Band, the Rolling Stones, and Mavis Staples, in addition to earning three Grammy nominations (including Best Rock Album for her critically lauded 2019 album “Daylight,” and another for a 2011 collaboration with country superstar Kenny Chesney). She has released a half-dozen albums as a solo artist, with recent addition “Medicine,” and released four albums with her previous band, The Nocturnals, which disbanded in 2015.
