On Friday at Niagara Gospel Mission, many local church leaders gathered for a special event, “The Church is Our Foundation,” a gathering of prayer, vision and fellowship as the team at the mission prepares for the exciting next chapter of ministry.
During this event, NGM shared its future plans for the women’s shelter, which will provide safety, hope and healing for women in need in Niagara Falls. Together, everyone gathered to celebrate how God is building a strong foundation – not just of brick and mortar, but of faith and prayer.
As part of the ceremony, participants were invited to write scripture verses on bricks. These bricks were then collectively thrown into the bottom of the pool, symbolizing that God’s word is at the very core of this new beginning. Just as Ephesians 2:20 reminds us, “Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.”
“This event is more than a groundbreaking,” Executive Director John Cooper Jr. said. “It is a testimony to the power of faith and the church. We want this new shelter to rest on the unshakable truth of God’s word and to be a place of refuge for women for many generations to come.”
