Golden Hill State Park and the Friends of Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse present “Christmas at the Lighthouse” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12. The event takes place at Golden Hill State Park, 9691 Lower Lake Road, Barker, and is free of charge to attend.
This annual event will include tours of the lighthouse, music from Lock City Sound, wine tasting from local wineries, food and craft vendors, a decorated historic Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse, and visits from Santa Claus and Blinky the Lighthouse.
Food including pulled pork dinners may be ordered in advance or purchased on-site, along with hot dogs and chili.
The Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse was constructed of limestone blocks quarried near the eastern end of Lake Ontario in 1875. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The property also includes a recently restored historic carriage barn, coal shed, outhouse, and a fog signal house and tower.
