The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Region 9 invites the public to join in Wildlife Day Saturday, Oct. 4, at Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center in Erie County.

Wildlife Day provides a perfect opportunity to participate in wildlife conservation service projects and educational workshops across the state, celebrating New York's diverse wildlife and habitats. The event, hosted in partnership with Parks and Trails New York, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, is part of the “Love Our New York Lands Stewardship Days Campaign,” an effort to encourage year-round stewardship and highlight the state’s outdoor recreation assets by offering a series of themed stewardship days throughout the year.

Participant registration is currently open for Wildlife Day. New Yorkers are encouraged to join their community in a cleanup, enhancement, or educational event near them.

Birding walks and talks will be offered at 9 and 10 a.m., 1 and 4 p.m., at Reinstein Woods EEC, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew. For more, call the Reinstein Woods Center at 716-683-5959.

Reinstein Woods is offering a series of bird walks and talks where one can search for birds and learn how to help with bird conservation. Free bird-friendly coffee samples will be available to all participants. For more information on the different walks and talks, click here

Dress for the weather and wear supportive walking shoes if you are going on a birding walk. All ages are welcome. Register online.
