Press Release
Skip Wardynski, third-generation owner of the 106-year-old F. Wardynski & Sons, has come up with a “WNY CHALLENGE” to help allay the concerns of friends and neighbors who might be food-insecure as a result of the current government shutdown and the uncertainty of SNAP funds and food stamps. The “WNY CHALLENGE” is simply to ask other prominent companies to join in and help the community during these uncertain times.
F. Wardynski & Sons is teaming up with a local bakery to provide 1,000 needy families with special family portion packages of hot dogs, along with hot dog rolls.
Organizers said, “Even if this shutdown is resolved soon, this situation has created a significant amount of pain and uncertainty as to how to feed our families. This program is simply a step in the right direction so that some meals will be provided free to those most in need beginning as early as Wednesday, Nov. 5.
“We are hoping that we will find a third co-sponsor to provide condiments; and maybe a fourth to provide potato chips, snack or cookies and other items to complete the family packs.”
FeedMore of WNY is making these items available to partner agencies around the four counties of Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara, where they will be distributed to people in need of nutritional assistance.
“FeedMore WNY is so very grateful for F. Wardynski and Sons’ many years of continued partnership. Not only are they making a product donation to help put food on tables this month, they are also calling on their local partners to do the same,” said Tara A. Ellis, FeedMore WNY President and CEO. “The generous actions of these local businesses will help feed hungry families across our service area.”
F. Wardynski & sons has been doing business in the Fillmore District on the East Side of Buffalo, and has supporter of many WNY’s community-based organizations.
