Town of Lewiston Supervisor Steve Broderick appears to have won another term in office, as he leads challenger Ed Lilly by a margin of 1,844 votes (53.02%) to 1,612 (46.35), according to the Niagara County Board of Elections’ unofficial results.
Broderick, a Republican, ran on the Conservative Party line following his loss to Lilly in the GOP primary.
In the race for town clerk/tax collector, Republican Tamara Burns (2,268 votes/59.19%) is ahead of Democrat Wendy Guild Swearingen (1,559 votes/40.68%).
Incumbent Rob Morreale, also a Republican, is the top vote-getter in the Town Board category, having netted 2,219 votes (30.04%). Fellow party member Bill Burg (1,966 votes/26.61%) is currently second. Two seats are available. Behind them, as of now, are Democrats Paul Kloosterman (1,872 votes/25.34%) and Andrew Zuccari (1,328 votes/17.98%).

Broderick said he was impressed with the high voter turnout – particularly so in a non-presidential election year. He went on to praise the efforts of his fellow top vote-getters.
“I want to thank everyone that supported me and pushed me across the finish line,” Broderick shared on social media. “I want to congratulate Rob Morreale, Bill Burg and Tamara Burns on a clean sweep!”
On Wednesday, Broderick added, “It shows what the voters think of Morreale’s service with the Town Board and what Burg has done in his many years with the town. I’m also very impressed with Tamara’s work and her strong showing. I am looking forward to working with them.”
Lilly said, “I am thankful to the taxpayers for their support.”
There was a large turnout of Town of Lewiston voters. The 3,478 votes cast tower over the 1,956 votes Broderick earned in 2023 when he ran unopposed. Similarly, the 3,832 votes in the town clerk/tax collector race are nearly double the votes former office-holder Donna Garfinkel (1,968) secured when she, too, ran with no challenger. Finally, the Town Board votes – 7,388 – are significantly higher than 4,380 – what council members Jason Myers (1,262) and Sarah Waechter (1,256), and opponents Burg (1,245) Steven Shoecraft (319) and Charles Ortman (298), netted just two years ago.
Town of Porter
In the Town of Porter, Republican John “Duffy” Johnston was reelected with 640 votes (98.31%). Fellow GOP members Timothy Adamson (643/50.39%) and Jipp Ortiz (617/48.35%) will serve on the Town Board. All three ran with no opposition.
The Hon. David Truesdale (796/99.13%) will continue on as town justice, having run unopposed.
Niagara County Legislature
Republican Michael Casale (1,714/99.13%) will become the new 2nd District legislator. He ran unopposed.
Joining him is incumbent Republican 1st District Legislator Irene Myers (2,052/98.84%), who ran with no challenger.
Voters also supported a Niagara County proposal extending the term of office for legislators from two years to four years. The measure netted 19,743 affirmative ballots (57.30%), with 14,712 (42.70%) not in favor of the new local law.
