NCS Collective & Clark Beckham proclaim magnificent 'Mystery' of God

“Mystery,” the stirring new worship anthem from the NCS Collective and acclaimed singer/songwriter and “American Idol” alum Clark Beckham, is available on streaming platforms. Marking Beckham’s NCS Records debut, the track was produced by Chris Springer and co-written by Beckham along with Grammy-nominated songwriter Ben Schofield, and Dove Award-winning singer/songwriter Meredith Andrews. 

Currently showcased on Apple Music's “New in Christian” playlist, as well as the “GMA New Music Friday” and “New Christian Music This Week 2025” (NewReleaseToday) Spotify playlists, “Mystery” celebrates a God who defies comprehension, proclaiming: “You’re the Author of the universe/Still my story is the one You write/Sent Your Son because You loved me first/Now I’m Yours and You are mine.”

“When it comes to God, there are a lot of things that don’t make sense to me, but if he really created the universe, the laws of physics, and every organism within it – mystery is inevitable,” Beckham shared of the song’s inspiration. “When I was 18, one particular mystery changed my life forever. I was on the top row of a choir riser singing, ‘If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking,’ from the song ‘How He Loves.’ I had just started believing in God and reading the Bible, and though I had sung that line before, it hit me differently. It was the first time I believed it. And here was the mystery: How could the one who created time itself, who breathed the cosmos, and designed every living thing that ever existed, love me?”

“I don’t know why he loves me like that, but I know he does,” Beckham continued. “I’ve seen it, experienced it, and felt it myself. And whether you know it or not, he loves you, too. I hope ‘Mystery’ helps others see how wild it is that such a magnificent God would be infatuated with everything about them; deeply care about their life; and have an infinite amount of grace for them. That’s love, and that blows my mind.”

As runner-up on season 14 of “American Idol,” Nashville-area native Beckham captivated audiences around the globe in 2015 with his dynamic stage presence and effortless vocal range. Known for his unique blend of blue-eyed soul, gospel and pop styles, Beckham has four EPs to his credit, including 2018’s “Year One,” which debuted at No. 6 on iTunes’ alternative chart and at No. 22 on Billboard’s R&B sales chart. He has released a string of original singles and head-turning covers; opened for Platinum-selling recording artists Jon Bellion and Allen Stone; performed with the world-renowned Nashville Symphony; and was nominated for a 2015 Teen Choice Award. 

In addition to making NCS Records his label home earlier this year, Beckham serves as a coach and mentor with Nashville Christian Songwriters. A seasoned voice and music theory instructor, multi-instrumentalist, and worship leader, his breadth of experience helps further bolster the organization’s renowned training program.
