Submitted by the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Savion L. Wilkins, age 27, was sentenced to a combined 57 years to life for sexually abusing multiple children in Niagara Falls in 2017. A jury convicted Wilkins in October of this year of multiple counts of predatory sexual assault against a child and sexual abuse.

Seaman said, “Abuse of this kind, committed against children, is amongst the most grievous crimes that a person can commit. The harshness of the sentence matches the atrocity of the crimes.”

The sentence was imposed by County Court Judge John J. Ottaviano. The Niagara Falls Police Department conducted the investigation, and Special Victims Bureau Chief Heather Nicholson and Assistant District Attorney Rob Zucco prosecuted the case.

Seaman also announced Darrion A. Cotton, 59, of Niagara Falls, entered a guilty plea to the charge of assault in the first degree. Cotton admitted to seriously injuring a gas station cashier by striking her in the head with a hammer during a robbery on Jan. 19, 2024, in Niagara Falls. Cotton faces between 14 and 20 years in prison when he returns for sentencing before Acting Supreme Court Justice Mario Giacobbe.

“This was a vicious and unprovoked attack,” Seaman said. “We will be seeking the full 20-year sentence.”

The case was investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by assistant district attorneys Derek Hafner and Richelle Kloch-Krantz.
