Press release
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Buffalo Chapter, will host a Ramadan iftar dinner at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Masjid Mahdi (9610 Colvin Blvd., Niagara Falls). The event is open to all and will bring together local residents for an evening of reflection, fellowship and interfaith dialogue under the theme: “Self‑Reformation & Justice for All: A Path to Global Peace.”
This Ramadan iftar dinner is part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s nationwide initiative to open its homes and mosques to the broader public during the holy month of Ramadan. Across the U.S., local chapters invite neighbors, civic leaders, and people of all faith traditions to share a meal, learn about Islamic teachings, and engage in meaningful dialogue. The initiative reflects the community’s commitment to building bridges, increasing understanding, and fostering mutual respect through personal connection and shared experiences.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset and then break the fast at sunset with an iftar meal. The Buffalo Chapter’s program will include brief remarks on the meaning of Ramadan, followed by reflections from Hindu, Christian, Jewish and Muslim speakers on the shared values of personal reform, compassion and justice. Guests will then join the community for iftar dinner.
“Ramadan is a time to strengthen our relationship with God, refine our character, and renew our commitment to serving others,” said Nasir Khan, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Buffalo Chapter. “We warmly invite our neighbors to join us – share a meal, learn about Ramadan, and engage in respectful conversation on how faith communities can work together for peace and justice.”
