Joseph H. Bowman

Joseph H. Bowman was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Bowman; dear father of Scott (Angel) Bowman; loving grandfather of Gabriel (Kristy) Bowman, Andrew Bowman, the late Steven Bowman, Jason (Brittany) and Todd (Ashley) Kolesar; cherished great-grandfather of Harbor, Violet, Meadow and Autumn Bowman, Zachary Ostlund-Long; Bree, Eve, Eleorah, Arielle, Rebeckah and Nehemiah Kolesar. He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine (Daniel) Reynolds, and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Buffalo, where he met the love of his life, Shirley. He worked at Bell Aerospace and the Chevrolet Tonawanda Plant. While working, he attended Bryant & Stratton Business College and began a career in accounting with Stone & Webster during the Huntley Power Station expansion. After time with Dunlop Tire, he settled into a long and distinguished career with Hooker Chemical and Occidental Chemical. A dedicated lifelong learner, Joseph graduated from Millard Fillmore College in 1975 and retired in 1993.
Interment will be held at the Western New York National Cemetery. No prior visitation. Arrangements by Castiglia Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo, the SPCA Serving Erie County, or Knox Church in Kenmore.
