Multi-Platinum-selling superstar and multi-ACM Award-winner Cole Swindell celebrates the 10th anniversary of his second studio album, “You Should Be Here,” which was released May 6, 2016. The Platinum-certified album has over 2 billion global streams, was No. 1 on the iTunes top country albums chart, and spawned three back-to-back Platinum-selling No. 1 singles, including “Flatliner,” “Middle of a Memory,” and his career-defining three-times-Platinum multi-week No. 1 “You Should Be Here.”
“You Should Be Here,” Swindell’s fifth consecutive No. 1 single, spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart (taking only 15 weeks to get there).
To mark the 10th anniversary of “You Should Be Here,” Swindell is releasing a special vinyl edition of the landmark album today, available here.
Stay tuned! A special follow-up conversation to “You Should Be Here” is on its way soon.
In May 2016, Swindell’s career catapulted when he launched “You Should Be Here” with the first-ever live concert event from the World Trade Center terrace overlooking the Freedom Tower in New York City to perform in front of families and first responders who had lost loved ones in the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11. The performance was broadcast live by “Fox & Friends.” The Georgia native also performed on “Good Morning America,” “Today” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” as well as one of the most talked-about performances from that year’s CMA Music Festival. USA TODAY named his performance of “You Should Be Here" as “biggest moment” of the night.
As Swindell described in 2016, “ ‘You Should Be Here’ began as a song I wrote to honor and remember my Dad, but now with all of the stories that have been rolling in from fans about how this song has helped them through emotional, sad and happy times, it is humbling and has definitely gone beyond me. Their stories have helped me along more than I can express. I am happy that sharing this song has helped them like it has me. I am touched that having lived with the song and now hearing all of these stories from fans that it has become more about celebrating life and celebrating those we love and miss.”
Swindell will perform at the Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater in Lewiston on July 30.
More about Cole Swindell: A Country music superstar whom Rolling Stone has called “a proven hit-maker,” Swindell solidified himself as a hit songwriter, recording artist and headlining performer over the past 12 years.
He was recently inspired to write “Make Heaven Crowded” after hearing a speech from Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, which resonated with him due to the recent birth of his own daughter and a desire to encourage more kindness, love and prayer in the world. The song was No. 1 on iTunes country chart and No. 2 on the all-genre iTunes chart. The debut single, “Forever To Me,” from his fifth studio album, “Spanish Moss,” became his 13 No. 1 singles as an artist – 14th as a songwriter. Twelve of Swindell’s 13 No. 1 singles have been certified Platinum by the RIAA with three being three-times-Platinum (“Chillin’ It,” “You Should Be Here” and “She Had Me At Heads Carolina”) and two being two-times-Platinum (“Ain’t Worth The Whiskey” and “Break Up In The End”).
Swindell, who The Tennessean called a “hard-charging competitor armed with a mastery of the art of the craft, tirelessly looking for ways to improve his work” charted three back-to-back, Platinum-certified, multi-week No. 1 hits off his fourth studio album, “Stereotype”: “Single Saturday Night,” “Never Say Never” (with Lainey Wilson) and the five-week three-times-Platinum chart-topper “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” that garnered three ACM Awards for Single of the Year and Song of the Year (as songwriter and artist), an iHeart Music Award for Country Song of the Year, and received a nomination for Musical Event of the Year for “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” with Jo Dee Messina for the 57th CMA Awards. He released a special duet remix of “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” featuring Messina that produced multiple award nominations. It is included on his deluxe album, “Stereotype Broken,” which also includes 2023 Top 10 single “Drinkaby.”
