Buffalo's Best Kielbasa Contest winners announced

The best homemade sausage makers in Western New York competed during the 11th Buffalo’s Best Kielbasa contest at Potts Banquet Hall. In addition to the contest, attendees enjoyed live music from Captain Tom & The Hooligans and food from Potts Deli & Grille.

Thirty entries were received this year, all from homemade sausagemakers. Winners were announced in the following categories:

√ Fresh traditional – Keith Bednarz

√ Smoked traditional – Michael Martinez

√ Fresh holiday (with marjoram) – Joel Greinert

√ Smoked holiday (with marjoram) – Joel Greinert

√ Nontraditional – Andrew House

The following judges picked the winners from the entries received:

√ Roy Bakos – college professor

√ Kelly Dudzik – WGRZ-TV Channel 2

√ Matt Dudzik – KeyBank

√ David Franczyk – Co-founder, Buffalo’s Best Kielbasa Contest

√ Dave Greber – WIVB-TV Channel 4

√ Tim Herzog – Flying Bison Brewing Co.

√ Tod Kniazuk – The Big Easy in Buffalo/Friends of St. Adalbert Basilica

√ Hon. Mitch Nowakowski – Buffalo Common Council Fillmore District

√ Chef Johnny Paa – The Sausage Maker

√ Susan Swiatkowski – Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA

√ Tadj Szymczak – The Buffalo Touch

√ Andy Wegrzyn – Buffalo Distilling Co.
