Press Release
Acclaimed singer/songwriter and award-winning author Ellie Holcomb is entering a new album season as she announces the release of her fourth studio album, “Far Country,” on Sept. 12. In celebration of this announcement, Holcomb releases the title track and its official music video today. Listen to "Far Country" now and watch the music video below.
Holcomb’s “Far Country” is a collection of songs born from grief, longing, and the steadfast love of God. Exploring the tension between beauty and brokenness, these melodies remind us that love always calls us home, even in the far country. The album’s title track reflects on the theme of wandering and being found. With expansive landscapes, poetic lyrics, and a heart that beats with both ache and hope, “Far Country” is an album for anyone who has ever felt lost. These songs remind us that we never walk alone, and that love remains even in our darkest moments.
"May these melodies remind you of the spacious love of God," Holcomb shared. "I pray that these songs will carry beauty and light to every corner of your story, and that they'll whisper, like an old friend would, that you are dearly loved and you'll never walk alone. We're all just kids making our way back home, and I'm honored to sing alongside you on the journey."
“Far Country” is produced and engineered by Cason Cooley and executive produced by her dad, Brown Bannister, and Samantha Steele. Songwriters on the album include a powerhouse list, including Holcomb, Jason Ingram ("Far Country"), Hank Bentley, Thad Cockrell. Jessie Early, Jon Guerra, Natalie Hemby, Kirby Kapel, Taylor Leonhardt, Latifa Morton, KS Rhodes and Bear Rinehart.
This announcement follows an incredible year of music, touring, and writing for Holcomb. Earlier this year, she released her newest children's book, “Spring Sings,” and accompanying album, “Sing: Spring Songs.” She also released her first-ever full project with her husband, Drew Holcomb, “Memory Bank.” The title track charted in the Top 5 of Americana radio. This was followed by a coast-to-coast tour that concludes with this week's two-night stint at the mother church, The Ryman.
