Family Promise of Western New York Press Release & Photos

In an inspiring display of community, generosity and collaboration, Family Promise of Western New York has successfully secured funding for a much-needed larger transportation van, ensuring continued support for families facing homelessness.

Thanks to a $25,000 contribution from West Herr Automotive Group, a $25,000 contribution from James and Linda Beardi, and an additional $10,000 raised through a community fundraising campaign, Family Promise is now able to purchase a new, larger van to better serve the children and families in its care.

Transportation plays a critical role in Family Promise’s mission.

“Almost every day, we transport children in our program,” Executive Director Luanne Firestone said. “From the very first day we welcome a family into shelter, to helping children get to school before bus routes are established, to after-school programs and field trips – we are committed to making sure no child falls behind because of a lack of transportation.”

Family Promise is set to pick up the new van at West Herr on Thursday.

The new van will expand Family Promise’s ability to safely and comfortably transport multiple children and family members at once, a growing need as the organization continues to serve more families in Western New York.

Family Promise expresses its deepest gratitude to the Beardi family, West Herr Cares, and the many individuals who contributed through the community fundraising campaign. This effort is a shining example of what’s possible when a community comes together to support its most vulnerable.
