YMCA Buffalo Niagara Press Release

YMCA Buffalo Niagara is launching a donation drive beginning Friday, May 16, to benefit Western New York veterans. The Y is looking for donations of the following hygiene products at any of its five wellness centers:

√ Deodorant

√ Nail clippers

√ Bar soap

√ Toothpaste and toothbrushes

√ Socks

√ Shampoo and other hair care products

All donated products will go to local veterans agencies, to benefit men and women who served in the military. This donation drive runs through Memorial Day and everyone in the community is invited to participate. Donors who wish to participate and are not YMCA members will be eligible to save $50 on a YMCA membership.

Friday is also RED Day, which stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. On any given day, there are over 170,000 U.S. troops deployed throughout the world. YMCA Buffalo Niagara and its community will honor their sacrifice and the families they leave behind by wearing red to support our military families.

The weekend of May 23-26, all veterans and active duty personnel are invited to try the Y for free at any of its five locations. As part of the support of the nation’s armed forces, the Y ensures all veterans and active military members pay no join fee on membership.
