Submitted by the Niagara County District Attorney's Office

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Luke D. Vaccarella, age 43, was sentenced today to serve 20 years in State Prison for his conviction of assault in the first degree. A jury convicted Vaccarella of shooting 16-year-old Nakhii Williams with a hand gun during what was described as a drug deal gone bad, in which Williams lost his life.

Seaman said, “Putting everything else aside, the defendant was sentenced today for a gruesome assault against a 16-year-old child. The manner in which the defendant assaulted this young man was particularly grievous and fully warrants the sentence imposed by the judge.”

The case was investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by Seaman, First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Assistant District Attorney Nichole Sands. The sentence was handed down by County Court Judge Caroline Wojtaszek.
