Buffalo is part of worldwide celebration
Press Release
Buffalo will join cities across the world in celebrating “Make Music Day” on June 21. The event, started as Fête de la Musique in France in 1982, encourages people to attend free live music events. Musicians of all skill levels to get out there and play. Details on the day are HERE.
Featured events include:
√ Tom Stahl at Flying Bison Brewing Co. from 4-7 p.m., presented by the Buffalo Music Coalition.
In addition to the above events, “Porchfests” will be occurring in both South Buffalo and Lewiston, providing even more free music that day.
“ ‘Make Music Day’ is a great chance to get out there and hear some of Buffalo’s best musicians,” event co-organizer Tod Kniazuk said. “But it’s also a time to grab your guitar, horn, harmonica, or whatever you play, go out on your porch or out to a park, and make some music of your own.”
Held on the summer solstice (the longest day of the year), the world's largest annual music event celebrates the inquisitive spirit and natural music maker in everyone, regardless of age or skill level. In 2024, “Make Music Day” included 5,304 free public concerts in the U.S., at over 1,500 locations. This year, 31 new communities join the party, reimagining their cities and towns as stages where every kind of musician – young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion – fills streets, parks, plazas, porches, rooftops, gardens, and other public spaces to celebrate, create and share their music.
