Niagara History Center Press Release
The Niagara History Center will again be conducting a series of one-day children’s programs on Wednesdays in July. The activities begin at the History Center, 215 Niagara St., Lockport, at 10 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. Children ages 7 to 11 are eligible to attend. The cost is $25 per child and includes all materials and an afternoon snack. Children are asked to bring their own lunches. The Town of Lockport is offering $5 off coupons in its summer recreation newsletter or on its website at elockport.com.
The dates and themes of the programs are as follows:
•Wednesday, July 9 – “Invention Bloopers”: Learn how errors or miscalculations have given us fun and useful products, toys and food.
•Wednesday, July 16 – “Welcome to the ’60s”: Find out what life was like when your grandparents were young. Hear the music, play the games, and eat the food of the 1960s.
•Wednesday, July 23 – “Soldiers of the American Revolution”: What was it like to be a soldier in the Continental Army 250 year ago? Experience activities common to a soldier at that time.
•Wednesday, July 30 – “How Did They Get Around?”: Before cars and airplanes, how did people travel from one place to another? Explore early transportation through hands-on activities.
