On July 7, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Niagara Falls Police Department received a 911 call reporting a death investigation at 561 Portage Road. Upon arrival at the scene, a 79-year-old female victim was found deceased in an apartment.
Detectives from the criminal division and crime scene unit worked quickly, and a 64-year-old male is currently in custody for second-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in Niagara Falls City Court on July 8. This individual is innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Detectives in the criminal investigation division are actively investigating this incident and are asking anyone with information to contact officers at 716-286-4553.
The investigation is ongoing; the victim’s and suspect’s names are not being released at this time.
