Legendary American rock band will be ‘Rockin’ the Downs’ for first time
Batavia Downs Press Release
Another large crowd is expected at Batavia Downs this Friday night, Aug. 15, as Kansas makes its first ever appearance at The Downs.
With top hits like the million-selling single “Dust in the Wind,” “Carry on Wayward Son” and “Hold On,” Kansas has garnered nine Gold albums, and three multi-Platinum albums.
The classic American rock band was formed in 1973 in Topeka and, 52 years later, two of the original members remain in drummer Phil Ehart and guitarist Rich Williams.
Batavia Downs President and CEO Byron Brown said, “It’s been a remarkable summer outdoor concert series so far, with great bands and wonderful weather. Last Friday, we welcomed The Commodores for the very first time, and we look forward to rolling out the red carpet this week for the first-ever appearance by Kansas. We have averaged more than 3,000 fans for the first seven concerts this summer, and we expect another big crowd for the finale on Friday night.”
Vice President of Business Development & Marketing Ryan Hasenauer said, “Tickets for this Friday’s show remain on sale at bataviaconcerts.com and at our Lucky Treasures gift shop, located in the lobby of the main entrance. We encourage anyone who purchases a general admission ticket to bring lawn chairs, or you can rent one with proceeds going to Make-A-Wish.”
Fans are reminded that any drink tickets purchased for the summer concert series must be used by the end of the Kansas concert – drink tickets are not valid inside or at any other events.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. Flashback will perform at 5:30 p.m. Hywater will follow at 7 p.m. Kansas takes the stage at 8:30 p.m.
