Says 100% of race proceeds fund lifesaving & lifechanging programs

Buffalo City Mission has announced its second annual 5K race, the "5K Run for the Homeless," scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6, in downtown Buffalo. All runners and walkers, from families to seasoned athletes, are invited to participate, with 100% of all proceeds directly funding the agency’s lifechanging programs, including emergency shelter, transitional housing, and restorative services.
"Every step taken in this race helps create a path out of homelessness for our Western New York neighbors," said Marilyn Forcucci, chief operating officer and interim CEO. "This event is a powerful way for the community to come together, run for a purpose, and directly support our mission to provide hope and healing to those in greatest need."
Race details and participation information:
√ The 5K will start and finish at the Mission's Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise, located at 100 E. Tupper St., Buffalo.
Online registration will remain open until the start of the race. Participants can pick up their official race bib and packet at the following times:
Early packet pickup:
√ Thursday, Sept. 4: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the City Mission.
√ Friday, Sept. 5: 3-6 p.m. at the City Mission.
Race day pickup:
√ Saturday, Sept. 6: Race day registration and packet pickup will begin at 7:30 a.m. The 5K will start promptly at 9 a.m.
Registration fees:
√ Adults (19 and older): $35
√ Students (18 and under): $25
√ Students (10 and younger): free
All participants will receive an official race packet, which includes a commemorative T-shirt and a numbered bib with a digital tracker. Pre- and post-race refreshments and treats will be provided by sponsoring organizations. Awards will be presented across multiple age brackets, celebrating every runner’s achievement.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural event, organizers have partnered with Race Management Solutions, Western New York's professional race coordination experts. Participants can look forward to an enhanced experience, including increased course safety, professional digital tracking, a dynamic concourse atmosphere, and finish-line photos.
