Niagara County Director of Emergency Service Jon Schultz and Niagara County Legislator Dave Godfrey went to Washington, D.C., for the annual National Homeland Security Conference, hosted by the National Homeland Security Association (NHSA).
Schultz, who has served on the NHSA board, said this conference brings together all the emergency response disciplines from different levels of government to share ideas and best practices. The conference was established after the Sept. 11 attacks showed a need for greater collaboration and information sharing throughout the emergency response community.
Godfrey added, “Homeland security issues are of particular concern to communities like ours that are located on an international border. The information we gather at this conference can only enhance the important work done by Director Schultz, Sheriff Filicetti and other first responders.”
