Press Release
Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards will hold their annual concord grape stomp at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14. The cost to participate for a team of six is $180 ($30 per person). For individuals or smaller teams, the cost is $35 per person.
In addition to the grape-stomping contest, stompers receive a “Fall Fun on the Farm” pass, which include a full day of activity, including apple picking, goat races, petting zoo, mega slide, corn maze and grape maze, pedal carts, a live band, drink specials and prizes. Recently added attractions include a train ride, ride-on pig races, and jungle gym with a kids-size rock wall.
The concord grape stomp will be held in front of the Farm House Market in the main Becker Farms parking lot. Guests are encouraged to wear casual clothing, hydrate, and cover up for those last sunny days of summer.
Grape stomping is the traditional way of separating the juice from the skins and, every year, teams of stompers of any age kick off their boots and smash grapes while spectators watch and cheer them along.
Continuing the 130 year-celebration since German immigrant Julius Becker acquired the original 100-acre farm in Gasport, the now 340-acre farm offers both U-pick and pre-picked fruits, vegetables, grapes, a large children’s area with farm animals, a winery, a brew house, and two event spaces for weddings and other events. The original house now functions as a store selling hand-rolled doughnuts, homemade pies, cookies and gifts.
“The concord grape stomp is a highly anticipated, fun event,” said Andres Vizcarra, fifth-generation family member at Becker Farms. “Families and friends come together to stomp away, bringing laughter, joy and camaraderie to the day. Like the many events we host at Becker Farms year after year, tradition starts here!”
