Gov. Kathy Hochul directed that flags on all state government buildings be lowered in honor of Nigel K. Barnett, a New York State Police sergeant and Troop K Station commander, who tragically passed away on Sept. 16. Flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Thursday, Sept. 25.
“It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Sgt. Nigel K. Barnett, station commander of New York State Police Troop K,” Hochul said. “A 19-year veteran, Sgt. Barnett committed his career to keeping others safe and serving his community with unwavering dedication. Today, I join Sgt. Barnett’s family and colleagues in honoring his life, leadership and legacy.”
