Step into the “Golden Age of Broadway” this fall as the Kenan Center launches its second in-house produced theater season with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “A Grand Night for Singing,” running Oct. 2-12 at the Taylor Theatre.

This inventive revue reimagines the timeless songs of the legendary duo who gave the world “Oklahoma!,” “Carousel,” “The King and I,” “Cinderella” and “The Sound of Music.” Audiences will be treated to dazzling new takes on classics they thought they knew, like a sultry Andrews Sisters-style “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” a swingin’ “Honeybun,” and a jazz-infused “Kansas City.” These bold reinterpretations prove that Rodgers & Hammerstein’s music is not just classic – it’s evergreen.

Directed by Kevin Leary, the production stars Anthony Alcocer, Sydney Conrad, Heather Holden, Aaron Gabriel Saldana and Brittney Morton, with Patrick Towey as music director and Em English as stage manager.

“This show features songs that everyone will recognize, alongside some hidden gems everyone will love,” Leary said. “Audiences will hear these beloved songs in ways they never have before. It’s playful, heartfelt and, above all, a celebration of the enduring joy of musical theater.”

Kenan Center Executive Director Bill Patti expressed his enthusiasm for the new season: “We’re thrilled to kick off our second season of in-house theater with “A Grand Night for Singing.” It embodies everything we want our productions to be: high-quality, imaginative, and rooted in the community. Starting this season with Rodgers & Hammerstein feels like the perfect way to bring people together through the power of song.”

Performances run at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays, beginning with opening night on Oct. 2. All performances will be held at the Taylor Theatre, located at 433 Locust St., Lockport. Tickets are on sale now at www.KenanCenter.org/theatre.
