30th annual World Pumpkin Weigh-off returns to Great Pumpkin Farm
Press Release
The Great Pumpkin Farm is proud to host one of its most iconic events, the 30th annual World Pumpkin Weigh-off on Saturday, Oct. 4, as part of its Fall Festival.
Pumpkin growers from across the region and beyond will compete for a top prize of $6,500, with even bigger cash awards on the line for potential record-breaking pumpkins. A new national record will earn a $10,000 prize -or- if a grower breaks the world record of 2,749 pounds, they’ll walk away with a whopping $15,000! Judging kicks off at noon, and winners will be announced immediately following official weigh-ins.
Last year’s champion, Scott Andrusz of Williamsville, tipped the scales at 2,342.5 pounds, and rumors are swirling that he may have another record-breaker ready to roll! The Great Pumpkin Farm has a rich history of record-setting pumpkins, including the first-ever 1,000-pound pumpkin, which weighed 1,061 pounds and made it into the Guinness Book of World Records in 1996.
