Sweet Buffalo Press Release & Photos
It's that time of year to be thankful for family and friendship – and what better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than to welcome home a new family member at the “Thankful Fur Pets” adoption event happening from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Buffalo RiverWorks!
Join Sweet Buffalo and 25 local rescues including dog rescues, cat rescues, a guinea pig rescue and ferret rescue, and let's find homes for deserving animals before the holidays.
Each rescue has their own adoption process so, if you're considering adopting from one, it's always a good idea to fill out an adoption application beforehand – that way, you're preapproved to adopt! Cats can usually go home the same day of the adoption event, but the dog rescues will do meet and greets at your home to ensure the dog is a perfect fit.
This event was formerly held inside the McKinley Mall for the past four years and has now moved to Buffalo RiverWorks to make room for more rescues to attend.
"We are so grateful to our friends at Buffalo RiverWorks for allowing us to host this event inside their venue, and our amazing partners for helping us get so many animals adopted," said Kimberly LaRussa, founder of Sweet Buffalo. "Western New York animals need all the help they can get, so we are asking the community to please come out and adopt on Nov. 22. If you can't adopt, stop by anyways and learn about fostering or volunteering. We need you!"

Rescues attending include:
