Press Release
Acclaimed artist and storyteller Benjamin William Hastings announces the release of a personal and relatable new song titled “The Man I Could Be,” now available on all music platforms. The Grammy-nominated songwriter leans into his signature lyrical style as he poetically reveals the tension between contentment and the ambition to be a better version of himself as he begins a new year.
Writing “The Man I Could Be” on his Nov. 15 birthday one year ago, Hastings’ introspective single highlights how priorities often take shape in the hurried pace of life. Produced by Ben Tan and Michael Guy Chislett, the acoustic-driven song offers a glimpse into the mind of the millennial man and the hope of simply getting better as a father, friend, and even at using a hammer – as shared in the chorus, “Maybe this will be the year I find the man I could be.”
“Why is it always around your birthday that you seem to have these full-on existential moments,” Hastings said humorously. “This time last year, my moment was surrounding my cup of coffee. I wrote this song not only for me, but for every man out there tryna be better. Who knew coffee from a pod would inspire my new song, ‘The Man I Could Be,’ available now wherever you listen to music!”
Currently, Hastings is performing in multiple sold-out cities across the country on his headlining “At The Heart Of It Tour! Live” with special guest Jamie MacDonald. The show features an intimate night of worship focused on getting back to the heart of God. Also this month, Hastings received his first Grammy nomination for his songwriting contributions on the Platinum-selling No. 1 song “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” performed by Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll, in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song category.
