As the holiday season approaches, Heart, Love & Soul is inviting the community to help make the season brighter for local families.

Heightened need during holidays

During the holiday season, Heart, Love & Soul sees an increased demand for support. Many families face financial challenges, and recent SNAP restrictions and economic pressures have left more children and adults in need of food, gifts and basic necessities. By participating in HLS’s toy and gift drives or contributing to the holiday appeal, community members can help others who are struggling during this special time of year.

Toy and gift drives

HLS is seeking individuals, groups and organizations to donate new, unwrapped toys for children up to 12 years old. Donations will be accepted at Heart, Love & Soul through Friday, Dec. 12.

In addition to toys, HLS is preparing Christmas gift bags for adult guests – 110 for men and 60 for women. Donations of new items are needed by Thursday, Dec. 11, and may include:

√ Chapstick

√ Individual tissue packets

√ Nail files

√ Candy

√ Full-size toiletries and lotion

√ Winter hats and gloves

√ Socks

Those interested in donating toys can visit HLS from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays through Dec. 12.

Holiday appeal

In addition to the toy and gift drives, HLS is running its annual holiday appeal, which focuses on monetary donations. Contributions to the appeal help HLS provide meals, social services and support to families throughout the holiday season and beyond.
