On Tuesday, Nov. 18, Lower Niagara Moose Lodge 584 honored member Harry Raby Jr., a U.S. Navy veteran, with the Moose International Valued Veteran of the Year Award.
Raby, a Lewiston farmer, was stationed in the Mediterranean Sea and participated in amphibious warfare exercises in the north Atlantic Ocean. He is a 40-year-plus member of Lewiston No. 1. Fire Co., where he continues to serve as fire police lieutenant.
In its presentation, the Moose board of officers cited Raby for his years of service with the U.S. military, as well as in the community. In its presentation, the board said, “Supporting veterans is something that has always been important to the Moose.
“The focus of this program is on the recognition and support of Moose veterans with an emphasis on their ongoing service to their fraternal units and communities through the Moose. The program’s tag phrase captures this well: ‘Moose Members Serving Then … and NOW!’
“This approach simultaneously honors our veterans while also highlighting the fraternity’s commitment to community service.”
