The Buffalo History Museum Press Release

The Buffalo History Museum invites Bills fans, lifelong Buffalonians, and community members to come together for a special evening of storytelling and reflection at “Our Stadium, Our Stories,” an event celebrating the shared memories of Highmark Stadium.

The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at The Buffalo History Museum, located at One Museum Court.

Highmark Stadium – known fondly to generations as “The Ralph” – has been more than concrete and seats. It has been the backdrop for unforgettable games, personal milestones, family traditions, and the unmistakable roar of a city united. “Our Stadium, Our Stories” creates space for the community to gather and reflect on what the stadium has meant to Buffalo and beyond.

Originally opened in 1973, Highmark Stadium has stood for more than five decades as one of Buffalo’s most recognizable landmarks. From its early years as Rich Stadium through multiple name changes and renovations, the venue has been the setting for iconic games, legendary players, and generations of fans.

Beyond football, the stadium has reflected Buffalo’s resilience, pride, and sense of community – serving as a gathering place where memories were made from the 1970s to today.

As the region looks toward a new chapter, “Our Stadium, Our Stories” honors the enduring legacy of the stadium and the people who filled its seats.

Guests are encouraged to share their own stories, memories and experiences. Attendees may also bring photographs or memorabilia to help bring those moments to life. Whether it’s a first game, a historic win, or a cherished family tradition, every story helps preserve the legacy of the stadium and the community it served.

This legacy is further explored through The Buffalo History Museum’s “Icons: Buffalo’s Sports Legends” exhibit, which places the stadium within the broader story of the athletes, teams and moments that defined the city. As Buffalo looks ahead to a new era, “Our Stadium, Our Stories” invites the community to reflect on the stadium’s lasting cultural impact from 1973 to today.

A suggested donation of $10 supports The Buffalo History Museum’s mission to collect, preserve and share Buffalo’s rich history. For more information about this event and other programs, visit buffalohistory.org.
