Compass House press release
Compass House will host its annual “Coldest Night of the Year” fundraising walk Saturday, Feb. 28, at Parkside Lodge; 84 Parkside Ave., Buffalo. Registration begins at 4 p.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 4:45 p.m.
The event will bring together hundreds of community members to raise awareness and critical funds for youth experiencing homelessness in Western New York.
Participants will gather to walk in solidarity with young people who face housing instability during the harsh winter months. The family-friendly event includes a 2-mile walk route through Delaware Park, followed by pizza, warm drinks, community fellowship, and celebration.
“Coldest Night of the Year” is a national initiative of Blue Seas, with local proceeds directly supporting the life-changing programs and services offered by Compass House.
“Every winter, the challenges facing youth experiencing homelessness become even more severe,” said Lisa of Compass House. “ ‘Coldest Night of the Year’ is about more than walking – it’s about standing with vulnerable young people in our community and reminding them they are not alone.”
Funds raised will support Compass House’s emergency shelter, resource center, and rapid rehousing programs, providing safe shelter, counseling, basic needs and long-term stability for runaway and homeless youth.
