City of Niagara Falls seeks input for Public Plaza & Main Street streetscape improvements

Fri, Mar 6th 2026 04:05 pm

Project being supported through New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative

City of Niagara Falls press release

The City of Niagara Falls will conduct the inaugural public meeting for the public plaza and main street streetscape improvements project from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the Niagara Falls Train Station, at 825 Depot Ave. There will be a brief presentation about the project followed by an informal and interactive open house.

The Main Street project is being funded by the New York State Department of State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI).

“Enhancing Main Street is a major economic development priority for Niagara Falls and, as such, we encourage residents and members from the community to provide their feedback to what will ultimately be a transformative project for our city,” Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino said. “Gov. Hochul has once again demonstrated her financial commitment through the DRI, recognizing that there is a need for vibrant and active central streetscapes so that Niagara Falls can once again become a world-class city.”

The public plaza and main street streetscape improvements project is focused on enhancing walkability, connectivity, and sense of place within the business and bridge districts. The project will explore coordinated improvements along Main Street, the creation of a public plaza on Cleveland Avenue, and enhanced pedestrian connections to Niagara Falls State Park.

This public meeting will help the project team, led by Fisher Associates, better understand concerns, issues and opportunities in the project area, and ensure the final design reflects the needs and desires of the community.
