On Monday, the Buffalo City Mission received a Dodge Grand Caravan mobility van donated by the West Herr Automotive Group in conjunction with the “West Herr Cares” program. The generous gift comes in response to the challenges posed by this season’s severe winter, helping ensure the Buffalo City Mission can safely transport individuals in need to shelter and critical services.

“We are deeply grateful to the West Herr Automotive Group for this invaluable gift that represents more than just transportation. It represents hope and safety for the many lives the Mission touches,” CEO Mark Jentsch said. “This will especially help those we serve in our recuperative care unit, and others who we serve who are disabled or have mobility issues.”

West Herr Automotive Group President and CEO Scott Bieler said, “When we saw the extraordinary number of people the Buffalo City Mission served during one of the coldest winters in Western New York, we were truly moved. Their team opened their doors and their hearts to our neighbors in need, and we felt compelled to help. By donating this wheelchair‑accessible Dodge Grand Caravan, we hope to support the Mission’s critical work and make transportation one less barrier for the individuals they serve. West Herr is proud to support an organization providing such an important service to our community.”

While demand for the Buffalo City Mission’s services has surged during the winter months, the need for reliable transportation continues throughout the year. The new van will provide unhoused individuals with daily access to appointments, programs, and opportunities they might otherwise miss, helping the agency continue its work of guiding people toward stability and a renewed path forward.
