For opening day, all tickets were $5. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Hearts for the Homeless and the Elmwood Village Association. Features screened on opening day included “The Natural” and “Bruce Almighty” (both of which feature Buffalo), in addition to the “Wizard of Oz” and other classic selections.

As part of Wednesday’s opening, Scene One launched its new loyalty rewards program, where frequent guests can earn points for complimentary concessions and admissions. Guests can earn “Cameo,” “Film Buff” and “Cinephile” status based upon the number of visits they make to a Scene One location.

Scene One has more than 50 poster cases here at the Market Arcade. In celebration of all of Buffalo, it is looking for artists to design posters that reflect the spirit of Buffalo in film and entertainment. Scene One will display these posters in the lobby and throughout the theater. There is no cost to submit – entrants can submit entries on social media via DM through May 20. Scene One will announce the winners in early June.

Starting Thursday, Market Arcade 8 will feature “Michael,” the Antonio Fuqua-directed biopic on the “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson. Also on deck will be “I Swear,” “Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” “Over Your Dead Body,” “Fuze” and “Lorne.”

Starting Friday, May 1, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway star in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” the sequel to the 2006 comedy-drama.

The theater features deluxe, heated, reclining seats in each auditorium. Concessions will include Scene One’s signature hot popcorn with real butter, along with Coca-Cola products and time-heralded snacks and candy available. Additionally, the Market Arcade 8 will also have a full bar that will open, pending license approval from the New York State Liquor Authority.
