Sherrie A. (Mitchell) Wendling

With heavy hearts, we announce that Sherrie A. (Mitchell) Wendling was welcomed into heaven on April 18, 2026.
Married to Robert (Bob) J. Wendling for over 65 years, Sherrie was known for her delicious cookies, beautiful quilts, unwavering love, and her uncanny ability to turn a house into a home.
We rest a bit easier knowing she was met by her sons, Robert M. (Robin) and Jeffrey A. (Lisa), with open arms to give their mom some long-awaited hugs.
She will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind: her husband, Bob Wendling; her son, Brad Wendling (Kerry); her grandchildren: Kelsey, Mitchell, Seana (Adam), Madeline, Courtney (Mike), Griffin and Ethan; and her great-grandchildren; Brayden, Jase, McKenzie, and baby Evelyn due in June.
A memorial gathering will be held at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 2587 Baseline Road, Grand Island, from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at which time a memorial service will be held. The Rev. Nicholas Evancho will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Western New York or a charity of your choosing.
