The 16th annual celebration of jazz in the Village of Lewiston - now known as the Northwest Jazz Festival, Lewiston, NY presented by Northwest Bank - kicked off Friday with lines of people piled up and down Center Street. Music rang out across a half-dozen stages, and crowds flocked to a plethora of local food vendors.

United Way of Greater Niagara President and CEO Connie Brown announced the organization's annual goal on Wednesday. The United Way of Greater Niagara hopes to raise $1,150,000 this year, which represents a 5 percent increase of what UWGN raised last year.

The Lewiston/Niagara-On-The-Lake Rotary Club once again participated in the Lewiston Art Festival. The organization has been serving hot dogs at the event for more than 40 years. This tradition was started by Al DiMino, one of founders of the Tops supermarket chain.
