Douglas A. Janese Sr., 62, of Lewiston, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. Janese was serving as highway superintendent for the Town of Lewiston, a position he held for the past six years.

HARBORCENTER today announced the winner of its online public art contest. Lewiston residents Thomas Paul Asklar and Matthew Sinclair Conroy have won the contest with a design that symbolizes the renaissance of Buffalo and the new beginning of the Queen City, while paying tribute to its past.

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced his office has entered into an agreement with the former Shimshack's Restaurant, formerly located on Upper Mountain Road in Sanborn. Shimshack's went out of business in October 2015 and consumers filed complaints with the attorney general's office over unused gift card balances that had not yet been refunded.

Thursday night's Youngstown Village Board meeting was short due to the absence of trustees Steven Suitor and Tim Lockhart, as well as no public participation. Upon the early dismissal of the meeting, the board entered into a work session, inviting the public to stay and listen in.
