The wineries of the Niagara Wine Trail are ringing in the 2014 holiday season with their annual "Holiday Happening." The event will take place over two weekends, Dec. 5-7 and 12-14.

The Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees has chosen South Fourth Street resident Edward Walker to serve as deputy treasurer. He replaces Amy Salada, who was appointed clerk/treasurer last month, and Karen Goodman, who retired in June after serving for 31 years.

The annual Jack Beatty Memorial Hospice Cruise and Clambake held in July continued its tradition of great entertainment, delicious food and leisurely sailing and power boating up the Niagara River, all to benefit patients and families served by Niagara Hospice.
